I think maybe its because Europe, which was white, developed before Africa, which was black.|||You%26#039;re on the right track. Skin color became an issue when slavery of Africans began and the slave owners needed a way to divide and conquer. When slave masters began having sex [raping] black female slaves, lighter skinned babies became common and as they grew, the %26quot;light is right%26quot; issue came into effect more. There were also light skinned slaves, though, called HouseSlaves, or sometimes commonly called in the BCommunity, HouseN%26#039;s. They did house work while darker skinned slaves worked in the field. Though, sometimes dark skinned slaves would be able to work in the house as well, it wasn%26#039;t too common to see light skinned, usually female slaves on the field as much as dark/brown skinned slaves, male OR female.|||um no your entirely wrong. People have been discriminated against because of skin color/race/religion/creed for thousands of years. White people, no matter how much you want to believe it, didnt invite racism... or slavery for that matter. Think about the Jews being enslaved by the egyptians, the crusades, etc. etc.
And Europe didnt develop %26quot;before%26quot; Africa. In some respects Africa developed better than Europe, until the Europeans came to Africa and ruined everything. Egypt was a a relatively advanced civilization.
Skin Color is an issue just like being from a different part of the country is an issue. Everyone subscribes to this clique ideology and therefore huddle up with other people similar to them, and kill anyone who isn%26#039;t. This is human nature, not white nature. I realize this and I%26#039;m an African American myself|||I blame the Enlightenment.
The scholars of the Enlightenment tried to classify everything including people. Africa was virtually unknown to Europeans. The only Africans Europeans were exposed to were slaves or people selling slaves. This led to a low opinion of Africans.
The Foundations of Western Civilization are not racist. The Romans and Greeks may have believed that their culture was superior but they were willing to accept other people as equals once they embraced their values. The peoples conquered by the Romans became full Roman citizens. Some of the Roman Emperors were of Iberian (Spanish) decent and not ethically Roman.
Christianity believes in the equality of all people before God. Saint Augustine wrote that; %26quot;Whoever you met, no matter how different there appearance or strange their customs, they are still brother in Christ.%26quot;|||tht makes sense, they developed more trade wise and technologically, and in most religions anything dark is evil, and we all know then religon was the word, and must be followed and superstitions all had to do with darkness. so im sure religion hada lot of input in it too. its like tht in india, light skinned indians are treated nbetter than dark skinned indians. idk, it was with natives too though. anytime a culture seems less developed they are taken cintrol of.
