Is it bad when hamsters bite and it breaks the skin?

My friend was trying to feed my hamster today and it bit her. And you can see the bite and it is bleeding. Is there some kind of sickness or anything bad you can get from a hamster bite that breaks the skin?|||It%26#039;s very unlikely you%26#039;d %26#039;catch%26#039; something from the hamster dierctly. More common is a general infection you%26#039;d get with any open wound. Just make sure to wash the bite with soap and put a band-aid on it until the skin knits and the wound is no longer open.

Just be careful with rodents, their eyesight is poor and when you%26#039;re hand-feeding everything smells like food. Hamsters are also quick to bite when startled.

I%26#039;ve had lots of hammies and lots of bites. No worries.|||like any cut, it can get infected..and if the hamster has rabies (which I doubt) then she%26#039;d get it also.

I say just watch the cut for a couple of days to see if it get%26#039;s infected|||i would wash my hands then put neosporin on it|||For as long as she cleaned the bitten area with warm water and antiseptic she should be fine.

Bleeding is the bodies way of getting rid of any unwanted infection/germs etc.|||Wash it with soap

If it hurts after some days ,you friend should go to the doctor!!!!|||wash it with warm soapy water. keep the wound clean and dry. keep fingers out of the animals face in the future.
