How many times does a garter snake shed it's skin in a year?

This is for a fourth grade science fair. We have 3 garter snakes and need an official number to base our findings off of for the project.|||Well, a lot of it depends on age and gender and in reality, you can%26#039;t get an exact number on how frequently they shed their skin; there%26#039;s too many variables in the equation. Another thing is if this is a science project then why aren%26#039;t you researching this? I can give you a somewhat general answer but I%26#039;m not going to because you need to stop being lazy and read a few books and websites to get your answer. If you%26#039;re going to do this kind of project you need to do it right.|||Its not on any specific date really. But mostly they shed they%26#039;re skin when they grow bigger and older.|||4|||It%26#039;s entirely based on how well fed the snake is. There is no set number of times, they can shed a whole lot or very little based on how much/often they eat.


Snakes shed as they grow, and they grow based on how much food they get.|||there is no way to say for any species of snake, there are to many factors that come into play with the shed cycles of snakes, and if this is for a science project what are you gonna give for your resources list? do some footwork, reptiles are very interesting animals and you could start a love for these wonderful creatures by doing your own research and hands on learning by raising the snakes etc|||I have found that a well fed and healthy snake ( being generic here ) can / will shed their skins on average of about every 6 weeks. This time can vary depending on temperature but I have kept my %26quot; tropical %26quot; collection at about 85* F.
